From our farm to your fridge. We started Twin Spring Creamery because we want to bring locally produced, cream-line milk to southern Indiana.

Our Creamery Values

Regenerative Farming and Humane Animal Care

We subscribe to regenerative farming practices, with intentional rotation of pastures as we seek to build soil carbon, fertility, and health through our grazing practices. Our care for the animals is critical to their health and the healthfulness of the milk they give. We provide quality forage, water, and non-gmo supplements, along with clean living conditions and plenty of space.

Sustainability for the Planet, the People, and the Place

We choose dairy, and our style of management (grass-fed), for a variety of reasons. Critically, fluid milk, yogurt, and kefir have relatively low greenhouse gas emissions, lower than most other animal protein.  Additionally, and as of February, 2024, Twin Springs Creamery is carbon neutral through our collaboration with Carbon Neutral Indiana. To our knowledge we are the only carbon neutral dairy in the state. As a collective we are making the art of dairy farming more sustainable by doing it in community. While many dairy farms are closing, we are working to keep dairy as part of the culture of our community - the place. Underscoring sustainability is food justice. We seek to ensure our product is accessible and available to all who desire it via inclusive collaborations and a dynamic pricing approach.

Product Quality, Freshness, and Satisfaction

Like most foods, freshness comes with how quick you get it from field to table. We milk, pasteurize, and prepare our products so they get from the cow to your refrigerator within a few days. The breeds we choose are based upon the specific qualities they bring to the glass, like high butterfat and protein, A2 beta casein, and of course taste!

We are a multi-family dairy operation committed to providing ecologically sustainable dairy products to our community. Twin Springs Creamery's journey began after years of planning. In 2021, we bought the old Martindale Farm on Starnes Road that was a perfect location for Monroe County’s only dairy farm. Then, in 2022, a group including Jason “Smiley” Scott and Sarah Ferguson, Trisha Zikes, brothers Danny and Dean Messmer, got together to plan how to build a creamery. James Farmer wrote a proposal for a grant from the Center for Dairy Research. We were thrilled to get the grant, which helped us buy important equipment like a pasteurizer, chiller, bottler, cream separator, butter churn, and more. In 2023, the Farmer family and many others worked hard to fix up the old barn for milking cows and making top-quality dairy products. We turned the lights back on in November 2023, with our products hitting local stores the following month. Our team has grown and new faces have joined the team, including Stacey Decker and Dawn Keller.
